Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Data Systems Architect to play a pivotal role in the modernization and migration of currency-related applications and data to Google Cloud Platform (GCP) within the bank environment. The primary goal of this position is to ensure that legacy systems and data infrastructure are transformed to leverage the scalability, efficiency, and innovation that GCP provides, ultimately enhancing the bank's operational capabilities and aligning with its digital transformation goals.
The Data Systems Architect will be responsible for designing robust, secure, and scalable data architectures on GCP, driving modernization initiatives, and ensuring the seamless migration of critical banking data and applications to the cloud.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cloud Architecture Design: Architect and implement GCP-based solutions to modernize the bank's currency applications and data systems, ensuring high performance, security, and scalability.
- Data Migration Strategy: Lead the design and execution of data migration strategies to move legacy data and applications to GCP, ensuring a smooth transition while minimizing disruptions to business operations.
- Data Infrastructure Modernization: Develop modern data architectures that enable advanced analytics, real-time data processing, and enhanced data governance within GCP.
- Integration with Bank Systems: Collaborate with internal stakeholders to design and integrate data architectures that support critical banking functions, including currency management, transactional data, and regulatory compliance.
- Cloud Adoption & Optimization: Implement cloud-native data tools and methodologies to optimize performance and cost-efficiency in the cloud environment.
- Governance & Compliance: Establish governance frameworks to ensure that data management practices are compliant with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and internal security protocols (e.g., GDPR, PCI-DSS).
- Collaboration & Leadership: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including development, infrastructure, and security, to ensure data systems are optimized and integrated within the broader cloud ecosystem.
- Performance Monitoring & Reporting: Continuously monitor and assess the performance of data systems, recommending optimizations for cost reduction and improved functionality.
- Documentation & Best Practices: Develop documentation and promote best practices for data systems architecture, ensuring alignment with cloud migration objectives and enterprise architecture standards.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field. Advanced certifications in cloud architecture, data engineering, or GCP are a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years in data architecture, with at least 5 years of experience working with cloud technologies, specifically Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Proven experience with migrating legacy data systems to the cloud and designing cloud-native data architectures.
- Deep knowledge of data storage, processing, and management in a cloud environment (e.g., BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, Dataflow).
- Strong expertise in data modeling, ETL processes, and real-time data processing frameworks.
- Industry Experience: Strong understanding of financial services and banking industry data systems, including regulatory compliance and security practices.
- Hands-on experience with data security practices on GCP, including encryption, access control, and compliance requirements.
- Cloud Architecture Tools: Familiarity with GCP-native data tools (e.g., BigQuery, Pub/Sub, Dataflow, Dataproc, GCS) and third-party tools for data migration and management.
- Strong knowledge of currency applications and financial data systems, particularly within the banking environment.
- Ability to design data systems that support advanced analytics, machine learning, and real-time transaction processing.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically and innovate in a cloud-first environment.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven leadership skills, with experience mentoring and guiding cross-functional teams.
- Familiarity with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and automation tools in the context of cloud data systems.
